Josie Dow

JOSIE DOW is a RYT 200hr yoga teacher born and raised near Seattle, WA. She was exposed to yoga throughout her life by her mother but started practicing intensively in college to cope with the stress of academics and athletics. Through her consistent practice she’s deepened her understanding of the power of breath as a meditation and relaxation tool. Breath is her drishti and guide of her yoga practice which she emphasizes in classes through ujayi pranayama and participatory exercises to open the voice. Trained in a vinyasa flow style Josie likes to incorporate slower mindful sequences focused on alignment, strength, and balance. She aims to empower participants to listen to and be in their own bodies. In her own practice she treats yoga as a remarkable dance exploring movement and form.

Josie is a certified Reiki practitioner and loves offering healing touch in class to enhance and deepen certain postures. As a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist she creates spaces for people to experience music and it’s vibrations as a tool for healing and connection to their own spirit. After two and half years of living abroad she feels blessed to hold space for embodied movement and spiritual practice at Orcas Mandala.
