Arron Redford
received her 200 hour Yoga Teaching certificate in 2006 through
the Saltspring Centre of Yoga on Saltspring Island, BC. The Centre was founded in 1981 by teacher
and Master Yogi, Baba Hari Das, who currently resides and continues to teach at the Mount Madonna
Centre in California. The teachings are most commonly referred to as Classical or Traditional
Ashtanga Yoga (ashta=eight, anga=limb) as described in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. The asana
(posture, seat) limb of these teachings contain poses taken from the HathaYoga system.
The Sanskrit word “Hatha” means sun/moon and implies a balanced Yin Yang in yoga.
Before moving to Orcas Island in the fall of 2010, Arron resided on Saltspring Island, where she met her husband in 2006. On Saltspring, Arron worked as an Ayurvedic massage therapist at the Salt Spring Spa Resort. It was here that she began her training of this holistic healing system which includes yogic practices, as well as dietary recommendations, internal cleansing practices, lifestyle adjustments and individualized herbal formulations. Since 2003, Arron has been providing home care for persons with physical or mental disabilities, as well as for the elderly. Their stories and the many experiences he has had in this work have completely transformed her outlook on life, what life has to offer and what she is capable of giving back. Her clients have been, and continue to be, Arron’s inspiration for her practice; they provide the energy and the encouragement that sustain Arron’s passion for sharing her life lessons and yogic philosophy. In Arron’s classes, students will be compassionately encouraged to build strength, increase their flexibility and improve balance, often moving beyond previous personal limitations. Postures are presented individually, as well as in Vinyasa flow; combining endurance and stability with movement and mobility. Partner Yoga is often encouraged in class, in order to give students the opportunity to teach and work with each other. The postures and the structure of the class cultivate a meditative and peaceful state, and students will leave feeling calm and refreshed. The purification of body and mind thru the practices of Yoga (sadhana) will lead the practitioner to develop a greater understanding of themselves and a deeper sense of connection to the world around them. In addition to the presentation of postures (asanas) to help balance the physical body; spiritual readings, methods of breathing (pranayama) and meditation (dhyana), will also be offered.Through the unification (Yoga) of the body and mind, students can improve their internal awareness and realize their own true nature, which is Peace. “The sole meaning of life is to serve Humanity” ~ Leo Tolstoy |

Louise Simmons came to yoga through performance arts and a fascination
with the body/mind/breath connection. She studied Iyengar yoga in India in the 80's and spent time in
solitary retreat; over-wintering in the Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh awakened her to our deep connection
with all that is alive in our universe. She traveled to the Findhorn Foundation in Northern Scotland in 1990 and began to share her yoga. She qualified with the British Wheel of Yoga as a teacher and with the Yoga Biomedical Trust as a yoga therapist, but it was when she met her mentor, Diane Long (a primary student of Vanda Scaravelli 'Awakening the Spine') that the potential of yoga freed from 'method' came alive. It was an experience of "coming home" and brought about a radical healing of chronic health problems. She has been exploring and teaching this 'Scaravelli' approach to yoga since, traveling internationally, offering workshops, classes and individual tuition. She lives between Orcas Island, WA and the Findhorn Community in Scotland. She passionately believes that everyone can benefit from the exploration of creative process in our bodies, constantly renewing, and approaches yoga practice with a sense of joy, delight and playfulness. SARAH DOMKE Passion, humor, breath, healing-touch and honesty are the foundations of Sarah Domke’s teaching. Sarah works with students to find the most beneficial ways to work poses in their bodies; to heal and manage injuries; to strengthen in a way that supports feeling good; to help release holding patterns in the body; and begin tuning their bodies and spirits to brighter sweeter frequencies. Trained in Forrest yoga, Sarah incorporates abs to warm up the core and support the back, re-training the neck to relax, standing pose series, and vinyasa flow in her classes. In addition to completing the Forrest Yoga Foundation Training with Ana Forrest and Guardians Talya Ring and Steve Emmerman, Sarah has completed the year-long Forrest Mentorship Program with Colleen Millen, studied & practiced Yoga for Depression with Colleen Millen, and completed Continuing Education for Teachers with Ana Forrest. Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility, it only requires that you bring a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly -truth be told- we're all in this together! Come practice with Sarah Domke to get into your body, move some energy, sweat out some toxins, and relax your neck! |
