dior eau sauvage review

An artist: Monet. Overall I like it - well made, balanced, clean and elegant, not boring and not overused by the crowd. Bought for my father in the late 60s, it was a lemony spiced aroma with oakmoss, though I remember tobacco and suede as undertones. I still believe Eau Sauvage has the best lemony scent I'm seeking of all the above listed, but for the price it just isn't worth $100. A gentleman has strength, but balances that with effortless charm. I'm game! I'm always a little uneasy about fragrances that have been around for such a long time because they can smell very dated. The same way that Douglas Adams convincingly floated the proposition that every civilized culture in the galaxy had created some version of a gin & tonic, I always suspect that a version of Eau Sauvage is inscribed on the pages of some universal platonic playbook. Top notes are Lemon, Bergamot, Basil, Rosemary, Caraway and Fruity Notes; middle notes are Jasmine, Coriander, Patchouli, Orris Root, Carnation, Sandalwood and Rose; base notes are Oakmoss, Vetiver, Musk and Amber. I have the current formulation and I get good duration if I spray skin and clothes. I kinda figured it would be redundant like BDC edp. Picked this up at an airport Duty Free. Regardless of the fact some consider it dated, I guess this is something that makes it easier to wear - IMHO, it lost some edges, it became closer to what a common EdC is. I wanted the new Sauvage, not Eau Sauvage.... Gorgeous. The creator made the perfume legendary and characteristic for its fresh, citrusy notes, composed with spicy lavender on a masculine, woody base. Steve Mc-effin’-Queen would slap on some of this on his way home to bump uglies with Ali McGraw after a hard day of doing his own stunts, racing motorcycles, and just all round being the coolest dude ever. Citrus, herbs, oakmoss, a dash of florals and musk. Aristocratic, charming, so fresh, defenitely for MEN over 35+. I really despised this one. Pros & Cons: Lovers of the original Sauvage will surely enjoy the slightly bolder, smoother composition of the Eau de Parfum, but those looking for increased sillage or longevity will be disappointed (*but full disclosure, my nose sometimes has difficulty registering ambroxan). Many a discussion pertain to 'vintage' and reformulations that 'make your nose laugh'. This pairs with any occasion and exudes a real touch of class or an extra dimension to one's style. Try this if you like: The original Sauvage but wanted just a bit more sweetness and less pepper; clean ambergris/ambroxan notes; the freshness of bergamot. I really like it! I’ve been enjoying my samples but am still finding it a quiet scent overall. Not much more to say. Calabrian bergamot, as juicy and spirited as ever, invites new spicy notes to add fullness and sensuality, as the woody ambery trail of Ambroxan® is wrapped in the smoky accents of Papua New Guinean vanilla absolute for greater masculinity. It's easy to wear, modern, pleasant enough, but lacking in nuances that allow it to be truly original for a fragrance fanatic like me who has A LOT of choices. It is very clean and has a touch of musk too. I would like this on a man in summer not sure it would work in cold weather. I feel clean and well groomed wearing it. The drydown seems to go on for much longer than I remember. It takes the wearer's confidence up a notch. I mean why even bother creating Sauvage when they got it perfectly right years ago? 5 with It is more spicy, darker, and has more depth (backbone) than the EDT. This is the 2015 Sauvage's papa. Really well blended citrus, herbal fruit , you get everything, could be considered dated , of course after recently having purchased Tom Ford beu de jour, at 35 maybe I am just turning into a old man lol. Maybe an 18-hole game of golf, then afterwards a shower and change in the locker room, before heading to the clubhouse bar for a drink on the rocks. I had imagined it earthier, perhaps even animalic. If I ever run out of my bottle I will definitely repurchase it. Surprisingly poor sillage and lasting power make ES the most intimate of skin scents. even therapeutic; it is a relaxing aroma, almost like freshly-washed skin after a shower with fine, classic soap...perhaps due to the bergamot, lavender, and vanilla. Wear it well. The men of my family used to wear "Eau Sauvage" for ages. . It is just a timeless classic, and I respect it. While original EDT remains sharp and citrusy in its dry down. I do admit to finding Christian Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum even therapeutic; it is a relaxing aroma, almost like freshly-washed skin after a shower with fine, classic soap...perhaps due to the bergamot, lavender, and vanilla. So "benchmark" led to me buying it blind on the spot. I bought some recently and it's as a good as I remember. I see that I am far from the only customer complaining about this. I have the 2015 batch and it's soft, but it's great. If perfumes compliment and enhance personal attributes through social perception via sensory interaction, Eau Sauvage will be an accessory to your gentlemanly aspirations. Initially, both resemble in citrus notes, but after 30 minutes Parfum changes to sweet woody smell. This would be a relaxing, quiet time kind of scent, or something I would reach for when I didn't want to overwhelm others with my choice of fragrance. It's what a GROWN MAN fragrance should smell like! The vanilla and nutmeg smooth it out, giving it a hint of creaminess. You would think this was released in 2010. From the votes on the scent's Fragrantica page, quite a few folks would agree with you. Strangely enough, there is something in this that makes me think of driftwood, maybe oud. A lurking vetiver note rounds out the experience with its green grassy twang. I bought a bottle recently. [])). Mom says so!) Love how bits and parts of the scent drift up and around, accelerated by that warm breeze. Eau Sauvage opens with an intense, almost pungent mix of astringent, icy lemon, a hint of a verbena-like green and piercing neroli. ", Fragrantica member Ignas39 writes, "Upon the initial spray I get that Calabrian bergamot that was in the original. a fascinating woman, an artist, very soft spoken, mysterious, extremely charismatic. VS -- Giorgio for Men Giorgio Beverly Hills for men. Eau Sauvage is not guilty of this. If it’s good enough for Bullit, it’s good enough for anybody. and Eau Sauvage is one of my favourite perfumes. What can I say that already hasn't been said? What intrigues me so much about Eau Sauvage is that while it smells unambiguously masculine and has always been marketed to men, it seems to contain within its very essence a license to be feminine. There are some conflicting reviews here. This fragrance is a little less cloying than Armani Pour Homme. The floral heart is composed of jasmine, rose, carnation, and iris, warmed in the bottom by mosses and woods such as vetiver. Used to wear this back in my college days and truly loved it. Would not recommend it as a blind buy due to its complex composition. | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano | Русский | Polski | Português | Ελληνικά | 汉语 | Nederlands | Srpski | Română | العربية | Українська | Монгол | עברית | Luxois Watches | If Dior reformulated this to last a bit longer, it would be a solid 10/10. Finally, samples and testers have been made available here in southern Europe and I've enjoyed exploring this newest creation from Dior. I actually may pass.I love the edt so much i have 3 bottles. It will be the best-selling male scent in the world for the past 25 years, appealing to both men and women. If I could only own one fragrance (a "signature scent"), this would be it. It was a very quiet scent for me as well. Curious in the same way I was curious about Fahrenheit Absolute, Eau Sauvage Parfum, etc. Its a bit lighter and less savage than Id expected( was picturing them throwing in a dirty or nasty note. 'Nuff said. Is something wrong with my nose? The vanilla is tempered by the star anise so as not to be straightforward or too sweet. Although it was a cologne it had great sillage even in very hot weather, though silage was moderate to soft. Love it! Hearty Malbec to wash it down. This is an harmonic blend of extremely natural aromas into a great and true "composition," with subtleties at play throughout its lifespan. Pitiful to ridiculous to ripoff performance with the sample I tested. I tried this on at Sephora recently and had the uncanny experience of instantly recognizing it, even though I'd never knowingly smelled it before. The basil, accompanied by rosemary, brings an aromatic facet. I have decided that if I could only own one fragrance, it would be Eau Savage. I agree with you fully, I was looking forward to a darker Sauvage, e.g. This perfume reminded me of a song by Pavarotti and James Brown-This is a man's world. Ok this legend is not for everybody and sorry I have no intention to offend. Bought a 6.8oz splash bottle by mistake (I would've preferred a spray bottle) but for $100 it was a steal! I found it cloying and far too harsh to even be remotely tempted to buy it.
