This was a difficult book for me to rate because there are so many thing I really appreciated about it, but there were some things that bothered me and I’m too stubborn to look past them. Silvera doesn’t abuse fancy language to force me into thinking really hard about my existence. I knew of Adam Silvera’s books long before I read any. They embark on a strange sort of companionship as readers gain insight into the very complex multiple histories of Theo and his relationships with those closest to him. Great review!! YA Realistic Fiction, LGBT History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera YA Realistic Fiction, LGBT Paperback, 294 pages. I wouldn’t say History is All You Left Me was one of my favorites, but still worth reading. But readers will learn that Griffin is also mad with himself for reasons that even Theo wasn’t aware of. There’s evenplenty of Harry Potter references, a nice bonus in my opinion. Not me for sure. I found myself wondering when that excitement was going to appear and things would get better. Change ).

Though not my favorite book ever, Silvera’s writing is great!! So you have to care about what he was like when he was alive in order to keep reading. But no matter how much they open up to each other, Griffin’s downward spiral continues. It evokes in me similar feelings that John Green’s does without making me feel like a dimwit for not have an existential crisis as a teenager. I prefer plot-driven stories and History is All You Left Me is definitely character-driven. I did have difficulties continuing to read because it’s not easy to care about fictional characters who are already dead. If Griffin is ever to rebuild his future, he must first confront his history, every last heartbreaking piece in the puzzle of his life. I was not the biggest fan of Griffin, Theo, or Jackson. The first one I read shortly after was History is All You Left Me.
